If you’re reading this post because you’re engaged, congratulations!! Getting engaged is one of the most exciting things ever! But, it can also be a little bit overwhelming – it probably seems like your to do list just got a mile long. We wanted to help make that list seem a little easier to tackle, by laying out the very first things you should do when you get engaged:
Take some time to just enjoy it. Sit back and take in that post-proposal euphoria! There’s really no feeling like it, so just slow down for a minute and let it soak in together before making that to do list!
Tell family and friends. It’s time that all the most important people in your life are notified of your happy news! Make sure your future bridal party is on your list too! Once you’ve made all your phone calls, don’t forget to make it ‘official’ on social media! Show off that bling girl!
Speaking of bling, be sure to get your ring sized properly and insured so that you’re covered if anything happens to it! Ask your insurance broker about adding your ring to your house or contents insurance for a lesser rate.
Set a budget. This is the first step to planning your big day, and one of the hardest ones! Budgets are important, and they’ll determine where you’ll get married, the vendors you’ll use, and maybe even how big your guest list is. Some basic things to include in your budget:
Which vendors have the most value to you as a couple? Is it important to you to have a large wedding? All these things determine where the bulk of your budget will go.
Book a date! Once you’ve decided on your priorities, find out when your must have vendors or venues are available!
And there you have it! Once your date and core vendors are booked, you are well on your way to having your wedding planned! If you need help finding amazing vendors in the Fraser Valley, be sure to check out our vendor directory!
